COMMERCIAL BUSINESS RECYCLING:

Businesses within North Lebanon Township are also mandated to recycle. Recyclable items include co-mingled materials, corrugated cardboard, office grade paper, tires, oil, batteries, and scrap metal among others. Businesses are required by Township Ordinance to submit a Quarterly Recycling Report stating the items and quantities that were recycled.

Businesses are a vital part of our recycling efforts.  Please encourage all businesses you patronize to recycle.  And if they don’t, please ask them why

Recycling Markets Have Local Effect:

As the world economy continues to struggle, the effects have strongly hit the recycling markets.  Local material recovery facilities can no longer move market materials quickly or at a profit.  Space and costs have now become an issue and many customers will have to now pay for recycling of these items.  Analysts are predicting it will be 6 to 9 months before the markets will stabilize.

Tough economic times are not an excuse to disregard our obligation to the environment.   Mandated recycling under Act 101 will not go away.  Businesses, industries, and institutions are still required by Township ordinance to recycle high grade office paper, aluminum, corrugated cardboard, and leaf waste.  North Lebanon Township will be working closely with Pennsylvania DEP, the Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority, and the local haulers to insure compliance with Act 101 continues.

North Lebanon Township has always been a leader of recycling in Lebanon County and it is our hope that our residents and businesses continue to maintain that enthusiasm throughout these tough times.
